For When The Avocados Come

L'chayim!

Aguacate + Mescal Adapted from Macondo

Kosher salt

Lime slice

1/4 avocado

½ ounce Cointreau

¾ ounce Agwa coca leaf liqueur (or Midori melon liqueur)

1 ½ ounces mescal

1 ½ ounces freshly squeezed lime juice

1 ounce agave nectar

1 teaspoon honey.


Spread some kosher salt on a small plate. Rub the rim of a glass with lime and dip in the salt. Combine all other ingredients with a large scoop of ice in a blender; mix until smooth. Pour into the prepared glass and serve.

Yield: 1 serving

I prefer the usual spread, thus:

Put together on large cutting board avocado meat, hard-boiled eggs, chopped onions and lemon juice. Using a good, large knife, chop it all together until well-mixed.

When it's mostly smooth, spread on fresh Challa (great for Shabbat dinner first course) or other tasty bread or crackers... delicious!
