Of Course, Not Devoutely

Dr. Uri Davis, who has often termed Israel an "apartheid state" and refused to serve in the IDF, converted to Islam about a week ago and married a Fatah activist in Ramallah. The conversion ceremony involved two oaths in which Davis recognized Allah and the Muslim prophet Mohammed. Davis said he plans to follow the laws of Islam, but not devoutly
.

Of course, not devoutely.

Do you think he would blow himself up in some supermarket or restaurant?

Wish him a mazal-tov?

Actually, I do wish him a mazal tov. I am always happiest when my friends and my foes are clearly delineated.

A side benefit: Dr. Davis won't be bringing any young radical Jewish Leftists into the world, as long as his marriage to the illustrious Ms. Fatah Activist lasts.

Ruti,

And just suppose some offspring spring. Maybe the kid'll convert back in?

Nu? That's the best revenge, isn't it? Some of our best Jews were former children-of-anti-Semites. I assume that is how Hashem gets the most delicious revenge on those who hate us.

You realize the irony of this, don't you?

The organisation he is a member of Abnaa el-Balad demands the end of the state of Israel and a secular state of Palestine in its stead. And still Davis feels it would be better to become Muslim.

And even then he obviously fears that he is seen as a Jew by race-based definition. And his lawyer tells people how admirable it is that this lady and her family accepted marriage with a Jew.

He is really, really afraid...

Shades of Crichton's "State of Fear," except that the guy getting eaten by the cannibals, b'zman hazeh, may be a self-hating Jew... Oy. I grossed myself out. May Uri instead do tshuva, and help his lady wife to become a Jew.

There. I feel better.

Not really. I was trying very hard; but it didn't work. May all of our enemies be expunged.

"but not devoutly" Speaks volumes - shallow, hollow, empty - should be the last he's heard of.
