Prohibition on Participation

The Head of one of the largest Litvak Yeshivot, Mir Yerushalayim, has prohibited participation on this week's demonstrations:

Translation:

"To all the students of the Holy Yeshiva -

One shall not be at all - and it is prohibited without exception - present at any demonstration without an explicit permission.

Natan Tzvi Finkel"

------------

Incidentally, I recalled the British police action on Rosh Hashana of 1928 when they sought to tear down the mechitza at the Western Wall when I read this report by my good friend Yehiel Spira:

“Police escalated hostilities when they entered the Toldos Aaron beis medresh”, the report adds, with police seeking to make a number of arrests. Police are accused of ignoring the kedusha of the beis medresh and shul, leading to yet a harsher response from Meah Shearim locals.
