Benn There, Done That

Menachem Benn, who has published 12 books on literary criticism and blogs at Maariv, moved across the Green Line.

Recently, Yariv Oppenheimer of Peace Now told Danni Kushmaro of TV 2 Saturday night that Benn, who probably moved because it was a cheaper price "does not comprehend that he is harming the interests of the state".

In his column today, Benn responds:

"In other words, Yariv Oppenheimer who serves as a willing tattletaler on the construction going on in the communities does not harm the state's interests, and I do. In other words, Oppenheimer who is sure that Israelis and Palestinians cannot live togther in peace (and that is the situation in the territories, at present, exluding a few disgusting provocations of the type of burning Korans and it is still not clear who did that) [As for desecrations, try this at Joshua's tomb - YM], and wished to expell hundrededs of thousands of Israelis from their homes in the Land of Israel, to cause a terrible fratricidal war, to bring about the firing of Grad missiles on Israel from the hills of Samaria, does not harm our interests, but I do.

Okay.

This is how it is when ideology causes you dementia. And when one doesn't understand, like all those boycotting Ariel, that all that is required for Israel and the PA to live in peace, is to live in peace.

Who said left-wingers were nuts?
