Olive Pits Story

A letter I sent off to the Montreal Gazette after reading this story, with a great headline pun:-

Olive war pits settlers against farmers

Palestinians say Israeli soldiers are failing to protect them from vandalism - assaults they see as attempts to drive them out

Your story via Reuters regarding claimed damage to olive tress owned by local Arabs (Nov.6) asserts that the UN body for Palestinian humanitarian affairs, OCHA, says 7,500 trees were damaged.

I should wish to point out that OCHA conducts no independent investigation. Their agents do not visit sites, photographs are unavailable, testimony is not recorded. All their information comes from Arab sources, either from the media or Palestinan Authority representatives. No Israeli sources are included. As such, the numbers are unreliable and should be suspect.

If it is published, I will let you all know.

So, I do not actually consider this may have success.
