Racists? Us?

In early December 1931, Haj Amin El-Husseini, the Mufti of the Palestine Mandate, convened a major congress of Islamic religious and public leaders.  It was in intention, following the 1929 riots, to shore up his personal and public position as well as to continue to play the "El Aqsa/the Holy Places are in Danger" (see additional clipping below).

It decided that

"Zionism is ipso facto an aggression detrimental to Muslim well-being, and that it is directly or indirectly ousting Moslems from the control of Muslim land and Muslem Holy Places"

It also

called on Muslim states to avoid trade with the Jewish community in Palestine

In other words, the Boycott, Disinvestment and Sanctions campaigns is nothing new.

As an example, moreover, of the very racist ideology involved, here is a clipping from the Davar newspaper of December 7, 1931 noting - in orange - that Jewish journalists, both local and representing foreign periodicals, were not permitted to attend, only Muslims and Christians:

More info.

This clipping from December 9 states that the Congress purpose, among others, is the "defense of Muslim Holy Sites in Palestine":-
