Be Careful When Using "Occupied"

Israel's camp of concessionists, anti-Zionists, those who 'care' for Israel's standing, all point to the "occupation" as an albatross around the country's neck.  Judea and Samaria, the Jewish people's national heartland, is being "occupied".

"Occupation" can be a tricky subject.  For example, are you occupying yourself at present by reading this blog?  Are you occupying a seat while doing so?  And when not reading my blog, how else do you occupy yourself?  Not every occupation is illegal.  And some that people claim so, well, they are incorrect.

My professor of political science at Yeshiva University, Joseph Dunner, wrote the first academic study of the country, published in 1950.

It opens with a map:

Judea and Samaria, and Gaza, too, are not "occupied" by Israel.  But, pay attention:

Other territory is.

Territory that was not apportioned to Israel in the November 29, 1947 Partition Plan.  And there was nothing illegal in occupying it since the Arabs not only rejected the territorial compromise but went to war, aggressively, and against UN decisions, and so that territory is Israel's.

Our Arab "peace partners" have not forgotten that.

If those wishing to divest Israel lof Judea and Samaria continue to harp on the theme of "occupation", I hope they will not be surprised when other sections of the country are highlighted as also being "occupied".

You are warned.

Be careful.

According to the Arabs - the present territories under dispute are the occupied territories of 67. All of Israel within the Green Line to them are the occupied territories of 48.

Be careful, indeed.
