When Does "History" Begin?

Thanks to HonestReporting, we know that the Economist’s Middle East correspondent Nicholas Pelham said

...I think that one of the key concerns the Palestinians have and Muslims per se is  that this [Israel's demand for a Palestinian recognition of Israel as a Jewish state - YM] would actually allow Israel to further erode what’s historically a Muslim country with many Muslim holy sites and I think that it of great concern not just to Palestinians but Muslims around the world.

Hmmm.

When does this "history' begin ?

A letter:

For almost two thousand years, it was a Jewish country. Roman conquests disintegrated Jewish political and military power but Jews continued to live in the country. There followed Byzantine, Persian, Muslim, Crusader, Mameluke, Ottoman and British rule until 1948. The League of Nations, in 1922, determined in a decision of international law, that "recognition has thereby been given to the historical connection of the Jewish people with Palestine and to the grounds for reconstituting their national home in that country". History is on the side of the Jewish national ethos.
