Etrog & Cohen - A Real Jewish Wedding

Gabrielle Etrog, Jeffrey Cohen

Gabrielle Jenna Etrog, the daughter of Dolores Etrog Friedel and Nathan Etrog, both of Atlantic Beach, N.Y., was married yesterday to Jeffrey Benjamin Cohen, the son of Joanne Peck and Robert L. Cohen, both of Washington. Rabbi Anna R. Sugarman officiated at Point O’Pines Camp for Girls in Brant Lake, N.Y.

Okay, Etrog and Cohen can't be more Jewish, right?

But it's the Rabbi that intrigued me.

Who is she (as she's been spotted at the NYTimes' wedding section more than once)?

Well, here's an answer:-

Rabbi Anna Rose Sugarman is part of Synagogue Without Walls - OrChadash with her husband Rabbi Monte Sugarman. As a rabbi, she travels throughout the northeast providing spiritual leadership through life cycle events and working with different groups. Her intention is to help others experience the mystical part of Judaism that allows one to embark or continue on the spiritual journey to realize a relationship with the Divine. Rabbi Anna Sugarman currently resides in Ballston Spa, New York with her husband and two sons.

Her husband has his own agenda:-

Rabbi Monte Sugarman specializes in officiating and co-officiating at marriages for people of two different religions and backgrounds. Breaking down the barriers of different cultures is a delicate matter, which comes easy for him.
Rabbi Sugarman meets with the couple for two or more sessions, getting to know them and providing them with his warmth and experience. He works jointly with the couple to personalize and design a beautiful and meaningful ceremony, which will be remembered forever. The outcome is a ceremony that preserves the heritage of each spouse's tradition. Each ceremony is unique, individualized and non-offensive to either side of the family.

Well, even a Rabbi has to make a living.

They should come to new jersey, where the liberal njjewish news publicizes mixed couples every week in its announcement section. Hey, maybe they'll be official rabbis of the JCC!

So, I don't actually believe this will work.
