US Officials Threaten Right of Free Speech

United States administration officials have voiced harsh criticism over advertisements in favor of Israel's position on Jerusalem that appeared in the U.S. press with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's encouragement. The authors of the most recent such advertisements were president of the World Jewish Congress Ronald Lauder and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Elie Wiesel. "All these advertisements are not a wise move," one senior American official told Haaretz.

Or is the above just wishful-thinking by Ha-Ha-Haaretz?

or worse, instigated by the paper?

A Chicago-thug, wouldn't-want-anything-to-happen-to-your-pretty-face threat, paid for at the taxpayers' expense.

Language like this belongs in noir films--not in the mouth of a "senior American official."

Yisrael Medad should have heard what Martin Indyk said... that Netanyahu should have chosen to be Obama's water carrier instead of siding with his nationalist coalition partners - and predicted the consequences to US-Israel relations would be "dire."

Yup, the heat's being turned up now.
